EDITOR'S JOURNAL: September/October 2008

As I was nearing deadline for this issue of Lake Country Journal Magazine, a new writer stopped in on her way through town. So many of our contacts with contributors are handled via e-mail and the phone, it was nice to make a face-to-face connection. She even included her young daughter in the visit, which added further insight into getting to know her. That’s one of the reasons I love Lake Country—it consists of family oriented folks bonded with a love of sharing good stories with others.

There are many ways to stay connected these days, but since 1997, LCJM has continued to bring you the very best of what we all enjoy about living, working, and playing in Lake Country. For the Lorentzens on Leech Lake, improving connections meant getting input from every member of their family before they began constructing their cabin (p. 40). Weighing her family’s one week accumulation of trash led writer Sharon Wetteland to ponder innovative ways to connect her desire to care for the environment with the basics of garbage disposal and recycling (p. 46). To the Jensens of Earth Eagle Forge in Guthrie, incorporating their artistry into their blacksmith business connected them to a new way to blend their creative passions (p. 36).

As we send this issue of Lake Country Journal Magazine out into the world, we encourage you to stay connected. After you read the articles and ads, with their colorful photos and illustrations, or visit our website, tell us your thoughts. What would you like to see covered in future issues of the magazine? What are you passionate about in Lake Country? Staying connected is as easy as picking up the phone or sending a note or an e-mail.

We’d love to hear from you!
