Landscaping for health—yours and your lakeshore's.

UM-Extension publications offer invaluable advice.
Septic systems near lakes need special care.

Septic systems need landscaping, too. Although it may not be your favorite part of the yard, it's certainly one of the most necessary. And it can require special consideration when landscaping time comes, since you've got the health of your family—and your lake—to consider.

Fortunately, University of Minnesota Extension offers several useful publications full of the information you need to create a landscape design that's appropriate for your site and system. Here are two of the most popular:
"Landscaping Septic Systems"
"Septic System Owner's Guide"
