Calling Teen Writers!

A summer writing group just for you!
Teens working on a writing project.

A summer writing group just for teens will meet in Park Rapids for eight weeks beginning June 15. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon from June 15 through Aug. 3. All meetings will be at the Park Rapids Library.

The teacher, Cindie Ekren, is a published author who is currently working on her graduate degree in Transformative Theories and Practices through Atlantic University. She also studied poetry and Greek Mythology on the island of Paros, Greece, has written two novels, and is working on a historical novel set in Russia.

Teens will learn writing tips and ideas and be able to share their poems, stories, and essays with peers. They will also learn "the fine art of giving helpful feedback" in a group setting.

This writing group is open to writers ages 13 to 18. Cost is $60 for the entire 8-week session and scholarships are available through Friends of the Library and The Jackpine Writers' Bloc. Group size is limited, so interested writers should contact Ekren, (218) 652-4257, cindiee@hotmail.com (please put "teen writers group" in the subject line), or Jennifer Geraedts at Beagle Books, (218) 237-2665.
