Kids Fishing Contest

Believe it or not, the Kids Fishing Contest in Hackensack, Minnesota, is in its 14th season. Every Tuesday from now through August 24, kids will gather at Birch Lake, near the city park. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., kids can fish for prizes and participate in minnow races and a casting contest. There's also free sodas and hot dogs.
Volunteers make it all happen, from the fishing assistants on hand to help remove fish from hooks to the BBQ chefs specially trained to prepare hot dogs on the grill. It all adds up to fun!
The fishing contest is open to children ages 15 and younger. Prizes are awarded in three age groups—0-5 years, 6-10 years, and 11-15 years. Categories include largest fish, first fish caught, most fish landed, and smallest fish.
If you want to participate, please bring your own fishing pole and life vest, and plan to arrive early to register prior to the 11 a.m. starting time.
It's Lake Country fun at its finest! Enjoy!
