Out of the mouths of babes—a few family favorites. Write ‘em down or they’re gone forever.
A friend's wife went shopping with her two daughters on a hot July afternoon. As they got into their sweltering mini-van, the thirteen year old moaned, "It's so hot, I'm gonna die." Already accustomed to competing with her older siblings for everything, the two year old piped up, "Me, first!"
Our family enjoys camping together. As we toured the park in search of the perfect campsite, the unmistakable odor of skunk assailed our nostrils.
"I don't want to camp near the skunk," Andy groaned.
"Don't worry," I replied. "The skunk isn't here in the daytime. He goes home to sleep."
"Then he must be sleeping with his tail up, it sure smells!"
I knew the puddle in the street near my husband's office was big, but I didn't realize how big until I had my four year old in the car with me. As we approached the puddle, I slowed down so I wouldn't splash the car. Just then David announced, "Surf's up, Mom!"

I got a dozen of 'em
Some fun quips I recall...
"He was nervous as a longtail cat in a room full of rocking chairs."
"Knee-high to a grasshopper"
"Cute as a bug's ear"
and my all time favorite from a dear departed buddy...when I'd ask, "How ya doin' Dave? He'd reply with a grin, "Finer than frog's hair, split twice!"
