Who May Enter:
1. Amateur Photographers of any age–except for employees of Lake Country Journal Magazine, their immediate families, professional photographers (people who earn 50% or more of their income from photography), and regular photographic contributors to LCJM.
What To Enter:
1. There are three (3) contest categories to enter–one (1) photograph per category. A total contest submission of three (3) photographs.
2. Nature–Animals, plants and landscapes.
3. People–Individuals from all walks of life.
4. Lighter Side–Humorous and light-hearted photos that reflect Lake Country.
5. Photos must be taken in the LCJM coverage area—Northern Minnesota. Coverage map available online for viewing.
6. Photos must be taken by the entrant. Photos that have been previously submitted and published elsewhere are not eligible.
7. Cropped photos are eligible in all categories. We do not accept digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered photos. Minor adjustments to enhance the quality of a photograph are acceptable.
8. LCJM reserves the right to disqualify photos deemed unacceptable.
9. All photos submitted become the property of Evergreen Press and may be used for publishing or marketing purposes. Photo credits will be given appropriately.
How To Enter:
Online Submissions:
1. Please submit photographs online through our website at lakecountryjournal.com. Submit no more than one (1) photograph per category.
2. Use the online entry form on our website. Complete a separate form for each photo entered. Photographs must be in JPEG format and less than 1 MB in size.
3. High-quality scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable.
Mail-in Submissions:
1. Submit printed photos sized 5x7 or 8x10 only.
2. No matted, mounted, or framed prints will be accepted.
3. Tape a completed entry form to the back of each photograph entered. Submit no more than one (1) photograph per category.
4. Mail or drop off your entries at: LCJM Photo Contest, 201 W Laurel Street, PO Box 465, Brainerd, MN 56401.
5. Photographs will not be returned.
Entry Deadline:
1. All digital entries must be received at Lake Country Journal’s website by 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2008.
2. All mail-in entries must be received at LCJM by 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2008.
Judging:
1. The Publisher and Art Director of Lake Country Journal Magazine, along with our Sponsor, will conduct judging.
2. Ten (10) finalists will be picked from each category. Of these, three (3) winners will be selected, one for each category. A grand prize winner will be selected from the thirty (30) finalists.
3. Winning photos will be published in the January/February 2009 issue of LCJM. Winning photos and finalists will also appear on our website.
Prizes:
1. Thirty (30) finalists will be selected, ten (10) for each of the three (3) categories.
2. From these thirty finalists, three (3) category winners and a grand prize winner will be selected.
3. Category Winners will be awarded a Digital Photo Frame.
4. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a weekend for two at the Quarterdeck.
5. Remaining Finalists will receive gift certificates to Landsburg Nursery.
6. Finalists and winners will be notified by November 1, 2008. If you do not hear from us, your entry was not chosen as a finalist or winner for this year’s contest.
